Use the visual editor to create widgets - WordPress widgets have a lot of functions. Although most will come from the plugin you install, other software is available from certain topics. However, you can also use the WordPress visual editor to create widgets.

Basically, you turn something like a post into an effective sidebar element to your visitors. This means you will have all the tools available at TinyMCE to build the utility.

Here, will show you how to use the intuitive WordPress editor to create widgets that attract visitors. In just a few moments, you'll start designing something unique for your website.

Use Content Blocks

For this article, I will be using the Content Blocks plugin with WordPress. This is a simple tool that comes with a few extra features like using shortcodes as well as adding elements you'll find in the TinyMCE image editor.

This includes additional functionality from something like TinyMCE Advanced.

Install, activate.

This is perfect with things like buy now buttons, data sheets you want to share, photos, much more. Because this plugin supports shortcodes, you can add anything you have access to.

For example, using the Shortcodes Ultimate plugin significantly expands what you create.

When you're done, click the publish button on the right.

Content block using Shortcode

Before moving on, we want to point out an important feature from Content Blocks. This plugin generates your own shortcodes for each utility you create using the WYSIWYG WordPress editor.

This means you paste this shortcode in most places at the website and it will display the content when visitors arrive.

You find the shortcode with this utility on the right of the editor.

We do not need a shortcode with this tutorial, but we want to make sure you know you have the option for future reference.

You use shortcodes at any post, page, most custom type at WordPress. That means this feature is used later.

Add the TinyMCE utility to your visual editor

After creating the WordPress widget, it's time to add it to the sidebar.

Go to the interface and click Widgets.

Drag and drop the Content Block gadget at the list into the sidebar. You put it wherever you see fit your own design idea. For this tutorial, we'll put it to the top, we let you see the end result.

Use the drop down window to select the display block. Because currently we only have 1 application, this will be the default utility.

Select the option for the widget. You enable things like displaying post titles, featured images or preventing filters from being displayed. These things are entirely up to you and how you want the widget to appear in the sidebar.

Now, we will leave the option blank.

The widget will automatically save when you drop it in the sidebar. However, you will need to click the Save button if you make any changes to the settings.

You now have the WordPress WYSIWYG utility visible to viewers on your website.

Add content blocks to posts and pages

Content blocks don't just work with sidebars. You can also add widgets created by the visual editor to posts and pages. This is useful for situations like affiliate marketing, special holiday deals, or even AdSense code.

For this, you just need to go to any post or page at WordPress.

Above the WYSIWYG editor, you'll find new features. Click the add content block button.

Using the drop down menu, select the block you want to add to the article or page.

The plugin will automatically put shortcode widgets into posts or pages.

The best part about this is how you edit that particular content block, which will affect every case in the website.

For example, suppose you want to change the link banner or link? Instead of going to every post, page, sidebar widget to bypass the new code, you only have to edit the content block only.

Do you only use WordPress text editor to create gadgets?

Very good WordPress wordpress tool with certain things. However, you do not have many TinyMCE editing tools available in the Visual tab. That is a bit restrictive of what you add in terms of visual appeal.

This plugin gives you access to all visual elements in the WYSIWYG WordPress editor. This includes other tools you might want to use, such as using the TinyMCE Template.

Epilogue

This is just a method for creating widgets, displaying sidebar content. You do a lot with WordPress by providing a completely unique experience to your visitors.
