How to fix or repair a wet or loose damaged smartphone

It happens to everyone at some point in their lives: their wonderful and precious phone slips out of hand and into the toilet, sink or some other unforgivable liquid!

Once, I dropped my phone into the pool and tried to dry it out by shaking it vigorously and using a hair dryer. It does not work and the phone is dead! Some of the advice I mentioned in this post you think would be common sense, but I didn't think about it at the time.

Fortunately, if your phone hasn't been submerged for a long time, there are a few things you can do to fix it and possibly save yourself the cost of having to replace it.

Obviously, if you have any of the most recent iPhone or Samsung devices, they are all waterproof or waterproof. So, if you have kept an old phone for a long time, it might be worth upgrading.

First thing

Before we learn about how to dry your phone, there are a few things you should do immediately after removing the phone from the liquid.

  1. Make sure to turn off the phone. We want to prevent the phone from short-circuiting.
  2. If you can, go ahead and remove the battery. This is possible on many phones, like iPhones, but if possible, remove it immediately.
  3. Remove the SIM card if you can. It's not a big deal, but if you have important data stored on it, especially for Android users, you can save all that data by erasing the card.

Now, let's talk about drying your phone. First, make sure to turn it off for at least two days and remove any covers or covers from the device.

Drying initially

One mistake I made at first was shaking my phone a lot. I thought it would help remove water, but then I discovered it simply helped water to other parts of the phone.

In addition to not shaking your phone, go ahead and wipe away any visible water on the device surface. If you can open the phone, gently wipe all internal parts gently.

Drying technique

Hairdryer

There are a variety of different things you can at the moment. Another big mistake I made was using the hair dryer incorrectly. Seems like the perfect choice to dry something right? Mistake! You can use a hair dryer, but only use fan or cool setting. Do not use any heat setting on the hair dryer.

Vacuum cleaner

You should also avoid using vacuum cleaners because they can cause more damage than help. If you have a small vacuum computer and have an attachment that creates a good seal with the phone, then give it a shot.

On the other hand, I do not recommend trying a vacuum cleaner at home because static electricity can damage the circulation in the device.

Uncooked rice

The best option is to place your phone in a plastic bag, fill it with rice or quinoa, seal the bag and let it sit for a few days.

The downside is that you have to wait a long time, but it's definitely worth the wait. This method works well and many people swear by it.

Another thing to note about rice is that you should try to use rice from an airtight package. Open rice will not absorb much water and you will waste time.

Desiccant

What is desiccant? I don't know exactly either, but we always see them. Obviously, it has small silica packets that you find in shoes, clothes and even food all the time.

 desiccant

You can buy these from Amazon on the cheap and basically stuff your phone and a bunch of these things in a sealed bag. You can also buy other desiccants like drier and use it the same way. This method is faster than rice because these can actually absorb moisture.

The main thing here is that you need to create a tight seal. Once you do that, leave it as long as possible. Again, the longer it takes, the more dry your phone will be. It takes a very long time for the water to drain, so be ready to wait 2 to 3 days.

Other methods

There are other drying methods that you should avoid, such as placing your phone in the sun, using a microwave or using an oven. All the bad ideas. The sun may be fine, but you have to do it the right way. For example, place it on a towel to avoid excessive heat from the ground and leave it out for no more than 15 to 20 minutes.

The vacuum chamber is another great way to dry the phone, but you've won one at home. Fortunately, there is one The company calls Redux Cooperate with nationwide mobile repair shops for you to use.

Finally, if you drop your phone in a liquid other than water, you may first have to try washing your phone. For example, if it falls into the ocean or is soaked in soda, the rest after the liquid dries will damage the phone.

In these cases, your only option is an alcohol bath, but using alcohol can damage your screen. It is not an ideal case, but at least you can end up with a phone turned on. Hopefully, some of these tips can help keep your phone dry and working again. Enjoy!
