[cPanel] - Set password to protect folder with Directory Privacy

This interface allows you to protect specific folders in the files of your cPanel account. After you enable this feature for a folder, when users try to view that folder via a website, the system will prompt them to log in.



Choose a folder


To use this interface, select a folder to manage.



  • To select a folder, click on the desired folder name.

  • To view and select subfolders, click the parent folder's folder icon. Then click the desired subfolder name.



Install security system


To password protect the selected folder, follow these steps:



  1. Choose Password protect this directory checkbox.

  2. Enter the label shown for the folder in the box Enter a name for the protected directory be protected .

  3. Click on it Save. A confirmation message will appear. Click on it Go Back to return to the configuration of the directory.



Create user


To create authorized users for the selected directory, follow these steps:



  1. Enter the desired username in the text box Username .

  2. Enter and confirm a new password in the appropriate text boxes.

  3. Click on it Save. A confirmation message will appear. Click on it Go Back to return to the configuration of the directory.


Authorized user


The Authorized Users list of existing directory authorizer menus. To delete a user, select that user and click Delete User. A confirmation message will appear. Click on it Go Back to return to the configuration of the directory.
