What do Vietnamese smartphones need to do to reach out to the world? - Knowledge sharing blog

Up to now, Vietnam has had two OEMs manufacturing and researching smartphones, namely BKAV Group and VinGroup: With two phones, BPhone and Vsmart.

However, both of these OEMs are unpopular in both the Vietnamese market and the markets they are targeting.

By the time I wrote this article, I can confirm one thing: both smartphone companies from Vietnam still have no door to reach out to overseas markets. So what do Made in Vietnam machines need to be able to reach the big ocean and expand their market?

#first. Market situation

Both brands are rarely chosen for the following reasons:

Unbranded: This is obvious. BPhone has only launched three smartphones aimed at the mid-range segment, and Vsmart has only started to attack the market for 1 or 2 years. This obviously can not give them the advantage of brand value compared to Apple, Samsung or Xiaomi that is up to ten years old ..

BKAV can bring brand value to BPhone from being ranked in the top 10 companies producing computer security software in the world, but this is not enough. And Vsmart, due to the acquisition of BQ's production line, cannot have a brand in our country market.

No dumping: This I have explained once already. If the dumping strategy is the way Chinese OEMs are doing to gain market share, Vsmart is doing the same.

However, Vsmart has not appeared long enough to be popular, and the performance / price ratio of Vsmart is still not much different from that of Chinese machines. And BPhone cannot use this strategy!

No breakthrough: BKAV and Vingroup can also use breakthroughs to attract attention, but they do not. Vsmart is in a situation like Xiaomi, which is taking the hardware to pave the way for the development of other parts.

And BPhone has creativity, new technology, but not enough to create attention. This strategy has been done by companies like Royole or Escobar.

Those are the basic reasons why BPhone and Vsmart have not had a foothold in our domestic market, let alone outside the international market.

#2. Challenges and options

Because it has not been around for a long time, Vsmart and BPhone need to get attention first, by investing in gray matter and creating new technologies, to get the attention of both international and domestic users.

Cannot use the dumping method as Xiaomi or Oppo still do, because if used, it will incur much more losses.

The branding issue also has to do with the time it appears on the market, so this is something that has not been built with BKAV and Vsmart, not to mention the market is requiring a device that can replace smartphones.

Or maybe more simply, it is: Sheltering Samsung and Apple!

Vietnam is a small market, so Samsung and Apple will not have too much to sue. However, this will be condemned and boycotted by a part of users, but on the contrary, a very large part will choose a device like the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy but also Made in Vietnam.

# 3. Conclude

Late smartphone production but still having a foothold in the market is very difficult, not to mention dominate the domestic market and go abroad. But anyway, we should still support Vietnamese goods so they have money to do better, right 😀
