CHAPTER # 1: Overview of Keyword Research
What is Keyword Research?
Keyword research is the process of researching and discovering words or phrases that people are searching for on search engines. The ultimate goal is to optimize the content around those words to reach TOP # 1.
Why is Keyword Research so important?
Keyword research will impact every step of your SEO path:
Find topics to write content, SEO On-Page, how to reach users, ads.
That is why any SEO Plan needs to do Keyword Research first.
In other words:
Keywords are like a compass for your SEO plan:
It will tell you where to go, what to do. And are you making progress?
Further understand Keyword Research
Will help you find the deep, desirable thoughts, including fear in the heart of the customer.
You will have insight into the potential customers, the words and phrases they are looking for.
In fact, keyword research is MARKET RESEARCH in this 21st century.
CHAPTER # 2: How to come up with keyword ideas
Now, it's time to start keyword research.
Specifically, a list of potential keywords.
And in this chapter, I'll show you how to come up with the best keyword ideas I use.
Pull down and get started!
Make a list of Topics
Topics here are the topics that customers are most interested in.
For example, you have a phone store, for example
Or ask yourself: "What topic are people looking for related to this job?"
Some topics that come to mind will be things like:
- Iphone
- Samsung
- IOS
- Android
- Cheap phones
- Take a selfie
Note: These topics is not keyword. These are topics, you will have to go deeper to find the key words in it.
This is exactly what you need to do on the way of SEO 2019.
Use Google and Youtube Suggest Box
You already have a list of topics above, now try searching for them on Google Search.
Right below you will see the keywords suggested by GG.
These are great keywords for you to include right in your keyword list
Why?
Because if Google Search suggests a certain keyword,
They show that a lot of people are searching for that term.
Let's continue, don't stop here, use some other great search engines.
And I want you to come to YouTube right away.
One of the most sought after platforms.
On Youtube you can also find the suggested keywords here.
Find related keywords
Apart from the suggested keywords in Google Suggest Box, there is another pretty good function.
It is "Search Related to" (Related topics). It is at the bottom of the search results.
For example, the topic is: "Buying a phone".
Scroll down the search related to section you will see the following words:
There will be 8 keyword phrases related to the topic you search above.
It is like the Google Suggest function, these are keyword ideas directly from Google.
So you absolutely don't need to worry about this word, "Does anyone search?"
Surely these are keywords that a lot of people search for.
Tips: Click on the keywords at this bottom, and pull down again.
What you see, you continue to have related keywords on your list.
Wikipedia Table of Contents
Wikipedia is a gold mine often overlooked when researching keywords.
Is there no place where you can find content created by thousands of industry experts, all organized into compact categories?
Here's how to use Wikipedia to find keyword ideas.
First access Wikipedia from the topic you're researching.
You will now see the content presented by Wikipedia.
Then find the "Table of Contents" section. This section lists the sub-topics mentioned on that article.
And here are some keywords you can choose to add to your keyword list:
- Classification of cars
- Parts of Cars
- Car structure
Click on the topic link you want to continue looking for more information
For example, here I choose: Car classification.
You will see a link that leads to a detailed article: Car classification, keep clicking.
And you have a lot more keywords related to that sub topic.
You can repeat this many times, to find more related keywords offline.
Find popular keywords on the Forum
Forums are like a miniature, up-and-coming community discussing 24/7.
So how to find a forum with the same topic?
Search method: for example:
- "Children forum"
- "Children" + "forums"
- "Diendan children"
- "Children" + "diendan"
When finding a forum, be aware of its areas. Each of these is usually a Niche Topic.
When digging deeper, check out some of the forum topics to find other Niche Markets that customers feel are right.
In about 10 seconds, I have identified 3 potential Niche Market from a reputable parent and child forum:
- Parenting
- Choose a school for your child
- Pregnancy - Pregnancy
Once you've found several Niche Topics that make sense for your website, add them to your Niche Topic list.
Chapter # 3: Keyword research tool
In this chapter we will talk about research keyword tool
Can you still find keywords without a tool?
It's correct
But the tool will make this process easier, less time-consuming.
These are the tools I often use, and would recommend to you.
Keyword Everywhere
This is one of my favorite free keyword research tools.
Why not?
It will display keyword suggestions anywhere on the website (Youtube, Bing and Google Analytics).
This is a Chrome Extension, after you install and return to the site.
Will display a list of keywords, and the data about this word as:
Unfortunately this tool only supports English, you can use English as a suggestion for Vietnamese (of course you have to translate)
Note: we still have to double check the search volume, because English and Vietnamese will be different.
Ubersuggest
This is also a free keyword research tool (by Neil Patel)
This tool supports quite a lot of languages (quite so Vietnamese doesn't have)
Hopefully, there will be Vietnamese
Ubersuggest will get the suggested keywords from Google Suggest. But there will be more statistics.
- Volume, CPC, keyword difficulty ...
Google Keyword Planner
Google Keyword Planner is the most standard keyword database.
For the sake of simplicity all this keyword data comes straight from Google (So completely reliable)
But in a way, this tool is optimized for Google Adwords rather than SEO
But you can still use this list as an idea.
Click on "Avg. Avg. Searches" to get the most searched keywords
Ahref
People often use Ahref as a keyword check tool, backlink checker ...
But few people know that Ahref can completely be a keyword research tool.
With features Keyword Explorer You will have a lot of information about that keyword
This will help you make a decision whether or not to invest gain time on that keyword?
As for Search Suggest, it seems not very attractive, it only gives you similar keywords (very close).
It is best to only care about keyword data such as:
- Search Volume, Click, Global volume, keyword difficulty ...
SEMrush
This is also a tool I appreciate quite about its features.
Apart from Ahref, I also often use SEMrush,
In terms of convenience and features, it is not inferior to Ahref.
For example: It completely shows all the keywords that a website is ranking (like Ahref).
Very suitable for you to follow the opponent!
Chapter # 4: Difficulty of Keyword
How do I know that keyword is too difficult to be top?
This is a pretty good question
Because if you choose a word that is too competitive, it is highly likely that you will not be able to reach the top 10, let alone 1-3.
But if you choose a moderate keyword, not too competitive, going to the top 1-3 will be easier.
Now we also learn about Keyword difficulty.
Long keywords will be less competitive
If you have a new website.
Or if you focus 100% on keywords that are not too competitive.
Then you will definitely need to focus on long keywords.
Now I will explain why ...
Most of us will divide difficult words into 3 types: Short, Medium, Long
Keyword is short
These are usually keywords with only 1-2 words.
There is very high search volume and competition.
Examples of terms are: Smartphone, phone, IOS. People who search for this term have a lot of purposes but are unclear
Sometimes they just want to understand what it is, or see what phone they're buying? Or a list of companies that make phones.
These keywords often have low conversion rates.
Medium keywords
These are keywords with 2-3 words, and search volume for at least 2000 months.
But these keywords will be less competitive.
Along with the above example: iPhone phones will be a lot easier than from smartphones or phones.
And these words will also have a higher conversion rate.
Long keywords
