PuTTY was originally written exclusively for Windows operating systems, but nowadays It has been written for many other operating systems such as Unix, MacOS, Symbian, Windows Mobile and android. PuTTY is not an abbreviation in English. PuTTY is used to control VPS.
PuTTY is written and maintained primarily by Simon Tatham and is currently beta software.
Feature
PuTTY supports a variety of secure remote "terminals", and provides users with SSH drivers with encryption keys, alternative encryption protocols and algorithms such as 3DES, Arcfour, Blowfish, DES, and authentication public key. The network interface layers that support IPv6, and the SSH protocols that support openssh compression programs, are delayed. It can also be used with serial port connections in LAN.
PuTTY comes with the SCP and SFTP client command line, known as "PSCP" and "psftp" respectively, and Plink, a command-line connection tool, used for non-interactive sessions.

How to connect to a Linux server via SSH through PuTTY
To be able to connect to the Server via PuTTY You need to have server access information, which includes:
IP address, user (usually root), password, connection port (port - default is 22)
Make sure that the server you are controlling has installed linux (usually centos).
Computers using windows operating system have pre-installed PuTTY software. download at http://www.putty.org/
