Apple today officially announced its next major event in 2020 to be held on Tuesday, October 13 (0am, October 14, 2020, Vietnam time) at the Apple campus. Park in Cupertino, California. Similar to Apple's September event when it focused on the new iPad and Apple Watch, the October event will only be held online and Apple will provide ready-made segments for each new product to be announced.
The October event is expected to be an event focused on Apple's iPhone with the introduction of the new iPhone 12 lineup.
iPhone 12 is undoubtedly the main character of the event. It is rumored that there will be four iPhones in three sizes by 2020. The iPhone 12, will be the “low-cost” iPhone model with 5.4 and 6.1 inch options. The 5.4-inch iPhone will be the smallest iPhone that Apple has released in years, and rumors suggest it could even be called the “iPhone 12 mini”.
The more premium top iPhone models are expected to be named iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. These are 6.1 and 6.7-inch versions, with the 6.7-inch iPhone having the largest screen size Apple has introduced so far.
All four iPhones will have edge-to-edge OLED displays with Face ID functionality and front-facing TrueDepth cameras. This will be the first time Apple has used OLED display technology on all iPhone line-up.
Apple is also expected to introduce 5G support for all iPhone 12 models. However mmWave 5G will only be available in the higher-end models while the lower-priced models will have 5G below 6GHz. The iPhone 2020 lineup will have a redesign with iPhones that adopt the iPad Pro-style interface that removes the rounded edges that have been used since iPhone 6 to switch to flatter and more square edges.
New camera technology for the iPhone 12 is also highly anticipated. The high-end Pro iPhone models are expected to use the same LiDAR scanner as the iPad Pro. All new iPhones will use the 5-nanometer A14 chip Apple introduced for the first time in the 2020 iPad Air. It will bring performance improvements.
It is possible that the first iPhone 12 models will come out in October, not long after the event is held, but some iPhone models, such as the iPhone 12 Pro Max, may be delayed for longer.
Also on this occasion, Apple will introduce the high-end AirPods Studio headset. Rumors suggest the AirPods Studio will cost $ 349 and will offer Active Noise Cancellation and a vintage-style design. AirPods Studio could be released later this year.
AirTags - Apple's long-rumored Bluetooth tracker can attach to items like wallets and keys, allowing them to be tracked right in the Find My app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Maybe Apple also introduced it during the event on October 13. Besides that, the compact HomePod could also be introduced by Apple.
